Overlooking the serene Susquehanna River, the Owego Riverwalk and Draper Park, the Parkview is a delightful step back in time.
Current owners, Beth and Mark Johnson, are committed to continuing the tradition and charm of the Parkview. Born and raised in Owego, Beth has always wanted to restore and improve the Parkview. Like many others in the community, she feels a special connection and emotional attachment to the Parkview.
Beth has more than 35 years experience in hospitality and business management. During the past 5 years, the Johnsons have added a banquet/meeting room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered in two separate dining rooms and the bar eating area. Live music is featured on Wednesday evenings during the summer months.
Because the hotel side of the business closed after a fire in 1972, Beth set about restoring it. When completed this Fall, there will be 11 hotel rooms with a 1900's theme. In addition, there will be four studio apartments available for monthly rental. An elevator will be installed in the hotel, and the Johnsons have been able to salvage and repurpose many old doors, wood, furniture and fixtures.
The Parkview Hotel-Restaurant-Pub is listed on New York State's Haunted History Trail. It has appeared on national and local television for its haunted happenings and stories of mysterious spirits who reside there.
The historic establishment will soon become Owego's Parkview Hotel, featuring the Dugan House Restaurant and Pub, a tip of the hat to its Irish heritage.
